Pyramind is a sound production and training facility. This means that our training is centered around production, not just audio engineering. While audio engineering is a key component of production, Pyramind covers all aspects of production, from concept to creation to post-production to marketing. Our training centers on all three key areas of the production process: creativity, technology and business. Most audio schools only focus on one, technology.

Pyramind is also a working production studio, doing music and sound for TV, film, and triple-A videogames. The same professor who is teaching your remix class will, after class, go back to his studio to write a track that will be implemented in a videogame, or will underscore a commercial. So our training is based on more than theory. It's based on our long and continuing experience as professionals in the music and sound industry today.

You know the saying, "Those who can't do, teach"? At Pyramind, we DO, then we teach, and then we DO some more.



Of course! We encourage it! Every student is allocated 4 hours a week to use our two professional mixing studios, the Vault and the Icon HD Suite. Our very best students use that time and then some for their personal projects. And all of our instructors are trained musicians and performers, as well. We play guitar, piano, sing, and even DJ regularly. Some of us have even published books about it. So we're available to help with your personal projects and homework, and give our personal feedback as experienced musicians and not just instructors.



While we can't guarantee it, we will provide you with the resources and contacts that could make that happen. Our music business courses are designed to help you understand how the music industry works from a business perspective, and introduce you to the tools and practices that could potentially get you noticed and signed to a label of any size.

Plus, our in-house label Epiphyte Records annually releases the Test Press compilation, featuring the best music from those innovative events, as well as the "Evolution" series, which features the best from the Pyramind community of students, graduates, and even teachers. So there are plenty of resources at your disposal here at Pyramind to help with getting signed, and getting your music out there.

That depends on you. The Core is designed to run for 8 months, but if a student fails or needs to re-take a class before matriculating, then a program can last 12 months or longer. We are dedicated to your success, and we allow students to re-take individual classes and complete class-tracks until the course requirements are satisfied.

Additionally, parts of the advanced DSP certifications are often repeated in part due to the depth of the material. These repeats are free for Core and DSP students.

From day one, students benefit greatly from our industry relationships in the community. We are educational dealers for many manufacturers, giving access to EDU pricing directly through other manufacturers that we can’t get ourselves, and we also provide support and consulting to all our students during their tenure as students.

(DSP students are also given 1-year introductory memberships to The Academy Of Recording Arts And Sciences, as well as The Game Audio Network Guild.)

Well, as a start, each month we introduce you to a different successful artist, producer, record label executive or cutting-edge technology expert through our "Planning For Success" guest lecture series.

Further, we have other ongoing community events here at Pyramind that bring the best of the sound industry to our campus. Executives, label owners, DJs, and musicians all attend our quarterly Test Press series. The annual Get Connected Summit brings together the technology, music, and media sectors for two days of networking and panels. We've had authors, performers, musicians, engineers, and even Alan Parsons (of Pink Floyd fame) here for industry events.

Our graduates are also employed at leading companies like Sony PlayStation, Double Fine Studios, Stompy, Talking House, and Broken Radio studios.

And finally as musicians ourselves, we bring to the table our deep connections to all corners of the music scene in San Francisco, from indie rock to dance.

Highest priority is given to the best applicants based on their enrollment application, interview and demo reel. Student applications are reviewed on a first-come, first served basis.

Students requiring re-location will get high priority since time is essential for them to make travel arrangements. And international students must apply and be accepted NO EARLIER than 120 days before the desired enrollment cycle as all student Visa documentation must be in order prior to acceptance.
