Gina Gallo

In-House Talent

A few weeks back Pyramind students were treated to an amazing presentation by long time music manager and event producer, Gina Gallo. After a few minutes of getting to know the students and asking each of them to give her an idea of “their dreams”, she proceeded to talk about her early history including a position with Maritime Hall, and an 8 year run with San Francisco based management company Gorilla Management.

She spoke about the years she spent working on various projects with Michael Franti and Spearhead. Gina told the crowd of about 20 students about her years in the studio, and on tour and general career building with the positive and uplifting group. She also spoke about how she got more involved with event production. This turn lead her to a 9 year run as co-executive producer of San Francisco’s annual Power to The Peaceful festival. She showed the students the PTTP website, and they got a chance to see some video clips and photos of the event over the past few years.

Gina also spoke about her connection to “I know I am Not Alone”, a documentary that Michael Franti made on a trip to Iraq, Isreal, and the West Bank, on which she served as an Associate Producer. She showed clips and a trailer of the film, and spoke about being involved with this amazing production.

She also spoke about leaving Gorilla in 2006 to start her own company, In-House Talent. She spoke about her want to be independent, and to have something that she built from scratch. She spoke about a few artists she had been working with and then introduced Sellassie, one of her artists, who spoke with the students for a few minutes about growing up in San Francisco, and about following their dreams.

The session ended with a 20 minute question and answer session, and Gina offered to help or consult with any of the students who were interested. This was the first time Gina presented at Pyramind’s guest lecture series, but we are sure it won’t be the last!
