John Honore

Composer, Producer, Mixer

John Honore’s father was noted Bay Area Jazz musician, Eubert Honore. Music must have been in John’s DNA as he started piano at the age of six and never stopped.

In his early 20's he worked in various music stores [Guitar Center/Music Unlimited] and in local small Bay Area studios. His musical skills landed him a staff position with producer Felton Pilate [M.C. Hammer / Con Funk Shun] in his 3 Room Facility in Niles. There he worked with various artists in a surprisingly wide range of styles.

After Felton closed his studio in the mid 90's John had a rather bad day on a motorcycle. The accident resulted in the amputation of his left foot and ankle.

In 2003 he was back in the studio producing a couple of tacks for a friends CD. They did a session at Pyramind, and it was then that John realized just how far behind the technology curve he was. During his absence everything had become software based.

John realized he needed to get some education. So with the help of California’s workmen’s compensation John enrolled in Pyramind’s Digital Producer Certificate Program.

The first class he took was Reason- “What an eye opener that was, it was as if the program were written for me, the speed at which ideas were turned into reality, and the power that this simple interface offered was nothing less than astounding. This fueled my imagination - the technology had reached a point where I knew my dream of opening my own music and audio production company was an easily achievable goal.”

Since that first Reason class, John has become certified in Pro Tools and Logic and has taken numerous other classes that have helped fill in the gaps.

“The "Entrepreneurship" and the "Business of Music" classes helped bring a great deal of focus to my plans, and the services I wanted to offer in my production business. Aside from an excellent education in digital music production, Pyramind has been instrumental in providing some amazing networking opportunities. So many talented people all focused on creativity and music, but each with their own strengths, it has helped form some great strategic partnerships and friendships I hope will last a lifetime.”

As one of Pyramind's first graduates John has now started his own production company: Master Fade Productions, which is now up and running, in Hayward, California.

Master Fade offers "targeted" purpose driven composition, mixing, mastering and production on state of the art equipment in a relaxed and client focused environment.

“Frankly, the only thing better than having a kick butt, no compromise production studio at my fingertips is the ability to use it to its fullest potential, and that I owe to Pyramind. Thanks Greg, Matt and all the Pyramind staff who have helped me realize my dream."
