Studio A
Studio A is the largest surround mix room in San Francisco. The thousand square foot control room has a 22′ Projection Screen and top-of-the-line Meyer Sound System tuned by Bob Hodas for stereo, 5.1 and 7.1 surround playback.This studio is powered by a Mac Pro Eight Core Tower running the latest versions of Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Ableton Live, and Reason and is loaded with plug-ins and sample libraries for creating, mixing and mastering all styles of music and Post Production.
The control surface is an Avid D-Command with surround panner. For recording and multi-tracking the room is equipped with lots of great mic pres and microphones. The Meyer Surround Sound system features three Meyer Sound Acheron Studio Screen Channel Loudspeakers, eight Meyer Sound HMS-10 cinema surround loudspeakers, two Meyer Sound x-800C high-power cinema subwoofers and two Galileo 408 loudspeaker management systems.
Studio A is enhanced by a sonically isolated voiceover booth and a 500′ live tracking room, great for Bands and small ensemble recording as well foley pits for creating live sound effects and sound design.
Studio 832
This HD studio was custom designed by CAO Matt Donner. With a JBL-powered LSR6300 series stereo and 5.1 playback system, Pro Tools HD rig (loaded, of course), multitude of analog pre-amps (Universal Audio, Millennia, Avalon and more!) Digidesign ICON Control surface, this room is designed for expert level Pro Tools training, mixing and Post Production.
Complete with 1080p 50” HD plasma monitor, a dedicated and acoustically isolated vocal booth and access to the 1000 sq’ Pyralab, students can record, overdub, mix, master and track their bands in this awesome room.
The Vault
The Vault is a dedicated music production & sound design studio. The room is built around the Novation 49SL MK II, Avid Artist Mix, Maschine Mikro, Presonus Central Station and The Apollo from Universal Audio.
Complete with a JBL LSR 4326P 2.1 sound system, the Vault comes loaded with Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Reason & Ableton Live DAW softwares and a full compliment of music making and sound design plug-ins. Additional hardware includes a complement of vintage analog and digital synthesizers. The vault is an ideal creative space complimented by its’ own iso booth for vocal and instrument over-dubs.
The NI Co-Lab

The Co-Lab is Pyramind’s most recent addition to its student training resources. A descendant of the Universal Music Groups Northern California Headquarters, this room is adorned with signatures from some very recognizable talent including: Rihanna, 50 Cent, Method Man, Busta Rhymes, Akon, DJ Shadow and Q-Tip. In keeping with the company adorning its walls, this room was designed for collaboration and experimentation. It features CDJ 2000′s, Technics 1200′s, Allen & Heath Xone 92 Mixer and a full compliment of Native Instruments gear including: Z2 Mixer, Maschine MK2, All Maschine Expansions, Komplete 8 Ultimate, Traktor S4, Traktor F1, Traktor X2 and two fully loaded Quad Core i7 I-Mac workstations.
Pyralab 1
This is the larger of Pyramind’s two multi-seat labs, hosting 24 workstations complete with Mac Minis and Axiom 49 keyboards. Each computer hosts the four fundamental applications being taught at Pyramind and a host of plug-ins and additional training tools. The room includes a 64 input mix desk for all the workstations and is wired for both stereo (2.1 with sub) performances and playback, a 15’ HD projection system and extensive theatrical lighting to support Pyramind’s many events and guest presentations.
Pyralab 2
This advanced training environment has 11 64-bit iMac workstations with Axiom 49 keyboards. Along with Pyramind’s fundamentals, these workstations are loaded with extra software from various Pyramind training partners including: Native Instruments, Apple and Waves. Wired for stereo and 5.1 playback, this lab has the added unique feature of being able to link each station to both the speakers and the overheard projection system.
Often, the instructor will feature a student’s workstation and the student will drive for a portion of the class. This is great for showcasing project work, and creates a unique “cooperate and collaborate” learning environments for students.
