Ableton Live needs no introduction. In just a short few years, a generation of producers has been created for whom Ableton is not just the best option, but the only option.

 

Our Ableton Live weekend program features two levels of instruction, great for users who are just getting started and those producers who already have a bit of experience. Taught by Ableton-Certified instructor Timo Preece (Lucid Mechanism), each segment covers some of the most important techniques used by producers today.

Timo Preece is an audio specialist, electronic musician, instructor, and consultant. He obtained his Ethnomusicology degree at UCLA and has done a number of recordings, projects and live performances with noteworthy individuals both in the U.S. and abroad. After spending five years working and performing in Tokyo, he's now based in San Francisco, where he teaches audio at two digital arts schools: Pyramind and Ex'pression College.

For the past 5 years, he has been teaching Ableton Live courses that focus on specialized training ranging from basic software operation to advanced studio and live performance concepts. In June 2009, Timo became one of the first certified Ableton trainers in the U.S. 

Currently, Timo has two music projects which both revolve around Ableton Live and advanced controller configurations: Lucid Mechanism, a stylistically expansive electronic band, and GravityTerminal, solo electronic music creation and live performance.

Cliff Truesdell is a musician, writer, and recording engineer working in San Francisco. He is the author of Introducing Reason 4 (Sybex) published in April 2008 and Mastering Digital Audio Production (Sybex) published in 2007.

Cliff’s original music has appeared in a variety of media, including independent movies and television shows, such as MTV's "Road Rules" and Bravo's "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy."
