An experienced marketer, DJ, guitarist, saxophonist, producer and remixer who’s worked over 25 years in the business, Jeff Straw is the Marketing Director here at Pyramind, running our events and marketing initiatives.

He previously served as Music Supervisor and Focus Ninja for Focus@Will. He was the Sr. Director of Product Development & Music Licensing at INgrooves for nearly a decade and was the vinyl and dance music buyer for Virgin Megastore SF before that. 

Jeff is just as comfortable on stage as he is on the phone closing a deal.  As a saxophone player he has played and recorded with SF’s finest electronic music acts including Dubs Alive Band, Bachelors of Science, Claude Von Stroke, Late Night Sneaky, Rick Preston, Ken Loi, Julius Papp, M3, Garth, Jeno, and J-Boogie's Dubtronic Science. He has recorded for labels such as OM Records, CODE Recordings, Revive the Soul, Ideal Muzik, Sweet Groove, Housetown, and RTFM. He also played lead sax for the 15 piece disco band Superbooty for 12 years. Lately on a rock and metal streak, he's started playing guitar in a new band called Malvation who's first EP is available now on all major digital retailers. He's performed and DJed at Coachella, Billboard industry parties in LA, Black & White Ball, and nearly every club in SF. 

Jeff partnered with Pyramind's Greg Gordon and Tyler Stone to become founding members of Test Press San Francisco. Test Press was the grass roots organization dedicated to culminating local SF talent and giving new producers a chance to having their music heard and critiqued by a panel of industry experts for over a decade.

Jeff is also a voting member of NARAS, has been on national craft committees and served on the NARAS SF electronic music committee. He's an ASCAP writer and publisher.

As a panelist Jeff has participated on panels and led workshops since 2005 including events like Miami's Winter Music Conference, SXSW in Austin Texas, MusicExpo in SF and Boston, Wistia Fest, NARAS (Grammy) Music Business Night School, and NARIP events.  Jeff has also taught multiple music business courses for Berklee Online.  

To represent his hometown in 2004 DJ F released the compilation Destination Lounge San Francisco, the first release for the label Revive the Soul. The critically acclaimed two disc set was compiled and mixed by DJ F, and includes two of his own productions as well. The second volume of the series DLSF2 was released in 2007. In 2003 DJ F dropped his debut production full length CD – Only One on his own label Breakshop Studios.

Honestly, everything in the course was amazing becuase it made (me) re-think and adopt new ideas of how to reach my goals. Some of them that stand out most was the marketing tips on social media, asking for a beatport feature (I did and I got it!), etc. There’s too many to name really! Thank you.
