Josh Weatherspoon, aka Josh Spoon, is an Ableton Certified Trainer, multi-instrumentalist, producer and live performer who keeps close to his hip hop roots while touching on different genres in electronic music.
As an educator Josh has written tutorials for various music production blogs, held workshops and developed music production school curriculum. He enjoys teaching private lessons and helping musicians get the exact instruction they need whether it be sampling, workflow, hacks or Push. Josh holds a wealth of knowledge to help find solutions for students, whether it be a Max for Live, VST, iOS or hardware. He also has relationships with various companies and is often sought after for sound design, beta testing demos and more.
As an artist Josh has created music that has been featured on Barry Rothbart’s “Streets of Fire" and Transworld Snowbording “The Nation” both releases contained high energy songs that stem from two different musical worlds. His influences come from a broad range range of music and artist. Josh likes to mix his influences in his music to make hard beats with soulful groove and melodies. The dynamics is what makes Josh Spoon stand out out among other electronic artist. A audience member once said, “It’s like Dr. Dre meets The Flaming Lips”.
As a live show programmer, Josh has helped artists and churches with events as well as national and world tours. His clients include Little Boots, ZZ Ward and superstar Giorgio Moroder.
Josh is currently working on his new monthly performance night called SAMPLEnHOLD, an event for boundary-pushing performance artists, where he is a resident.
