The San Francisco Bay Area is a a great place to live but affordable housing can be difficult to find. We’ve put together a list of solutions you can explore to find the right place. We offer free housing consulting as well - there are bad actors out there (and bad neighborhoods).
The Bonny Music House, as the name suggests, is EXCLUSIVELY for Pyramind students. This means there’s great community of students just like you from day one. It’s also an incredible bargain with rooms available from $750 per month. Pyramind is excited to announce that we've taken over management of the Bonnie Music House and if you'd like more information or to get on the waiting list please contact Matt Donner.
SFO Housing provides safe, affordable, and quality housing for students, interns, and visiting professionals in San Francisco, one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Most of the locations are in Downtown San Francisco (super close to Pyramind) and the rates are extremely competitive for the Bay Area. More and more Pyramind students are taking advantage of this opportunity; follow the above for more information.
San Francisco Student Housing is a student housing building in Lower Nob Hill located just blocks from downtown with easy access to the city’s top universities. They offer competitive rates for off-campus housing through a mixture of furnished doubles, triples and quads, as well as apartment-style units called garden cottages. SF Student Housing is also associated with Music City Rehearsal and the upcoming Music City Cafe which looks to be pretty sweet.
Craigslist.com is the preferred way of finding apartments and room shares in the Bay Area. Here are links to finding apartments in San Francisco and the East Bay, the easiest areas to move to in the Bay Area commute to Pyramind. In the menu at the top of the page you'll probably want the last pull down option to be "apts/housing for rent" or "rooms & shares." The one thing we can say about using Craigslist is that you must be very, very diligent. Here are some guidelines:
Start a month and a half to two and a half months before you want to move.
Check for new listings once in the morning and once in the evening.
Look for places that have photos in the listing.
Set a minimum and maximum price in your searches.
Send out emails right after you check new listings (you might end up sending over a hundred of emails).
Create a 'template' email but change it up for each new place you email.
Be prepared to go to an interview/viewing of the apartment with potential roommates if not multiple interviews if you're looking for room shares (open houses are also very common).
If you have any questions about any of the listings you find feel free to email Pyramind Admissions and we’ll help you sort it all out.
