Pyramind Studios Produces Score For AMD’s Surround House 2: Monsters in The Orchestra at CES 2014 featuring composer & conductor Lennie Moore
Pyramind Studios was thrilled to work with AMD Sr. Fellow and Chief Multimedia Technologist Bill Herz to bring his musical vision of performing animated monsters in a 360 degree video dome to life. The Americana track composed by Lennie Moore was recorded by Leslie Ann Jones at Skywalker Sound and featured The 80 piece Skywalker Orchestra. The multi tracks were then brought back to Pyramind’s studios for testing in surround. Final implantation was done in partnership with Obscura Digital who built and designed the video dome with animation being handled by an elite team of AMD talent. Lennie Moore conducted the animation presentations in real time at the CES convention in Las Vegas!
Bringing AMD’s Surround Computing vision to life in an overwhelming and unique way, “Surround House 2: Monsters in the Orchestra” engaged show-goers in an instrumental performance by a collection of misfit monsters performing in a 360-degree domed theater. This immersive experience uses many of AMD’s current and developing technologies including gesture control optimized by HSA features on the new “Kaveri” APU, next-generation AMD FirePro™ graphics driving 14 million pixels across six projectors, and 32.4 channels of audio processed with AMD TrueAudio technology and presented with Discrete Digital Multipoint Audio.
“We live in an exciting new world where computing is everywhere and transforming our daily lives,” said Lisa Su, senior vice president and general manager, AMD Global Business Units. “AMD is at the heart of the innovations, driving a vision of ‘Surround Computing’ to provide the most visually compelling, immersive experiences in gaming, the next-generation of PCs, and the cloud. We are truly re-defining modern computing with our customers and ecosystem partners here at CES.”
